KAWERAK

WALRUS IVORY

Kawerak Inc, an Alaska Native regional tribal consortium, worked with community partners, artists, and other interested parties to raise awareness about the ethical, legal, and responsible use of walrus ivory by Alaska Native people.

Kawerak asked ARM Creative to help educate travelers about the cultural, economic, and environmental significance of the use of walrus and walrus ivory by Alaska Natives. Unlike elephant ivory, walrus ivory is a byproduct of the walrus which is used for food, clothing, and other vital resources in a subsistence lifestyle.

WHAT WE DID

Through a comprehensive campaign strategy that included identity work, photo & video production, paid media strategy, and design, we helped Kawerak craft a story worth sharing.

And shared it was.

In a month, our walrus ivory education video was shown over 2.5 million times on Facebook alone.
